Habitat welcomes Shai, Jason and their two children into our Homeownership Program!
For four years, Shai, Jason and their two children have all shared one bedroom in Jason’s parents’ home.
Jason works in the trucking industry and Shai is a day care teacher in Delaware. “I enjoy working with children, especially teaching them and motivating them to learn new things. It’s very rewarding,” Shai expressed.
Sharing a small bedroom with their two children has been a challenge but they have been saving their money with the dream of purchasing a home for their family. They were approved for a conventional home loan but they had many concerns. “The price range that we were approved for meant there was a good chance that any house we purchased would need repairs that we aren’t able to afford. We also worried that the mortgage payments wouldn’t be affordable and that we would be sacrificing food or other necessities to pay our mortgage each month,” Shai explained.
“What inspired us to apply for the Habitat for Humanity homeownership program is our desire to have a truly affordable home which will give us a better quality of life. We are dreaming of an affordable home to raise our family in. We want to make it in life and not struggle to live,” Shai explained.
Shai and Jason’s kids have never had their own rooms before and they are very excited about that. Shai is very excited about a better future for the family. “I used to worry and I didn’t know how our future was going to be. Now I know that we will make it and we will be okay. I cannot express enough how grateful my family and I are for this opportunity!
We need your support to help Shai and Jason realize their dream of homeownership.
