Habitat for Humanity of Delaware & Union Counties welcomes Emmerencia and her children into our Homeownership Program!
“Habitat has given me the opportunity to realize my dream of owning a safe, stable home for me and my children.”
Emmerencia and her two children moved to the United States from Cameroon in 2017 in hopes of finding a safe, permanent home for her family. She wants to provide her children with the comfort and security of not having to worry about moving anymore.
The family is currently living in Lewis Center in a two-bedroom trailer home. She describes it as narrow and tiny with barely any space to live and play. “If you’re not careful, you might bump into things,” she said. “Movement is limited, and we can’t sit and do things together or have fun around this space.”
Emmerencia works for a home health care company, taking care of seniors and individuals with disabilities in need of daily living assistance. “I enjoy taking care of my clients and putting a smile on their faces!” she said of her job, “I am also currently working towards my bachelor’s degree in Applied Management.”
For Emmerencia, it means a lot to be purchasing a Habitat home. “It means less worry about my children’s futures. It means a more stable life, and a better environment to grow up in. They’re what matters to me most.”
Her children are so excited to move into their future home that they have already designed their bedrooms, and look forward to having birthday parties and inviting friends to come over. The family is also eager to purchase a grill and play outside in their own yard.
We need your support to help Emmerencia realize her dream of homeownership.
Join us by making a financial contribution or volunteering alongside her on the job site. Together, we can build strong foundations…one home at a time.
